Fuel oil is a widely used item in daily life. Fuel oil is one of the main sources of energy on Earth. Diesel, petrol, and octane are the most commonly used fuel oils. It is a natural resource. All natural resources will gradually deplete, so it is very important to find alternatives to fuel. Fuel oil is now a cause of economic instability worldwide. Moreover, the smoke produced by using fuel oil is very harmful to the environment. It increases the amount of carbon monoxide in the air. As a result, the ozone layer in the Earth's atmosphere is damaged. The sun's ultraviolet rays fall directly on the Earth, heating its atmosphere.

We are overly dependent on fuel oil in various sectors, including transport and vehicles. Therefore, to achieve economic stability and maintain environmental balance, we must limit our use of fuel oil. We need to increase the use of electricity.

Almost all motorcycles and vehicles use fuel. With technological advancements, the use of electricity is increasing in all sectors. Electric technology is being used in various vehicles, including bikes. Developed countries are encouraging the use of electric bikes and cars. Famous brands are marketing electric motorcycles and cars. Although electric motorcycles are not very common in Bangladesh, it is expected that their usage will significantly increase in the coming days.

The price of fuel oil has increased significantly, leading to a substantial rise in travel costs. People in our country predominantly use commuter bikes for transportation. Commuter bikes are most widely used in workplaces, businesses, and all other sectors. Given the current economic situation, people use bikes out of necessity. Due to the significant increase in bike fuel costs, people are leaning towards electric bikes to save money. These bikes are safe to ride and also beneficial for the environment.

These bikes can effortlessly cover 60-80 km on a full charge.

What is an Electric Bike?

The difference between an electric motorcycle and a regular bike is that e-bikes run on electricity, while regular bikes run on fuel oil. E-bikes have a rechargeable battery connected to an an electric motor. When the battery is charged and the switch is turned on, the battery supplies electricity to the motor. The motor converts electrical energy and sends it to the engine. This is how an e-bike works. Regular bikes use petrol or octane. The bike burns this fuel oil to generate power in the engine. In other words, in an electric bike, power is generated by rotating the motor with electricity, and the e-bike runs on that power, while in a regular bike, power is generated by burning fuel, and the bike runs on that power.

Fuel-powered bikes, depending on the model, can travel 35-70 km per liter. These bikes have high fuel costs. E-bikes can cover a distance of 40 to 80 kilometers on a full charge. A full charge takes about 5-8 hours. The cost of electricity for charging is relatively low. These bikes are quite suitable as commuters and for city rides.

Advantages of Electric Motorcycles

E-bikes have virtually no fuel costs. Only mobil or engine oil needs to be used. Since they run on electricity, electricity charging is the main consideration.

E-bikes do not stop unexpectedly (unless there's a charging issue), there's no need to worry about fuel, holding the clutch while running, or frequently changing gears.
Compared to fuel-powered bikes, the price of e-bikes is quite low.

Disadvantages of Electric Motorcycles

Not as robust as fuel-powered bikes. Therefore, caution is required.
Batteries need to be replaced periodically.
E-bikes have lower speed, and due to charge limitations, they cannot cover long distances.
Fuel-powered bikes can be started anytime by just pouring petrol/octane. E-bikes need to be fully charged to start, which takes a considerable amount of time.
As of now, licenses for these bikes have not been issued in Bangladesh, so they are not allowed on highways.
