Japanese Bike Maker Yamaha Plans to Achieve Net-Zero Carbon Emissions by 2035
Yamaha, the world's second-largest motorcycle manufacturer, plans to reduce carbon emissions to zero at all its factories worldwide by 2035.
A year ago, the Japanese giant Yamaha launched a plan called ''Yamaha Motor Group Environmental Plan 2050'', with the main goal of reducing carbon emissions to zero at all its factories, both domestically and internationally, by 2050.
However, in June 2022, Yamaha announced the implementation of this plan by 2035 from its global headquarters in Iwata, Japan.
Yamaha states that they have adopted this plan with the dual objectives of saving energy and ensuring the use of clean energy. The ideas on which they based this plan are as follows:-
- Demand-based fuel usage and conservation.
- Optimized use of components.
- Manufacturing small but high-capacity components.
- Utilizing hydro-electric methods where feasible.
- Increasing global use of carbon-free electricity by 2030.
Yamaha has announced plans to reduce carbon emissions in production by 92 percent by 2035 compared to 2010, both domestically and internationally. They further state that they have decided to reduce these carbon emissions at all their factories using internationally recognized methods.
