RFL Starts Producing Motorcycle Helmets in Bangladesh
RFL will produce motorcycle helmets in the market with the aim of supplying high-quality helmets within the purchasing power of this generation.
RFL Group's Managing Director R N Paul announced in a press release that "SafeMate" brand motorcycle helmets have been launched in the country.
The annual production capacity is estimated at approximately 120,000 pieces. Initially, around BDT 20 crore has been invested in production.
Currently, the country's annual helmet market is worth over BDT 500 crore. Almost all helmets used in Bangladesh are imported. Approximately 60% of imported helmets come from India and the remaining 40% from China.
The RFL Managing Director stated, "Helmets are an important piece of equipment for motorcyclists. Besides ensuring safety, wearing helmets is mandatory for both motorcyclists and pillion riders according to the current laws of Bangladesh. The popularity of helmets is increasing."
According to him, "Almost all helmets in the Bangladeshi market are imported, and not all imported helmets are of high quality. The SafeMate helmet is BSTI certified, which is unique in Bangladesh. The main objective of this production is to bring high-quality helmets within the customers' budget."
Touqirul Islam, Executive Director of Durable Plastic Limited, informed that the main features of SafeMate helmets include being made with advanced ABS shell and PC material. They have high-quality belts and a locking system. Additionally, an advanced ventilation system is provided for user convenience.
Initially, two types of helmets produced by RFL will be available in the market. The maximum retail price for half-face helmets is BDT 1,400, and for full-face helmets, it is BDT 2,250.
These "SafeMate" helmets will also be available in supermarkets and motorcycle accessory shops, as stated in the press release.
Asfakul Hoque, Marketing Head of Durable Plastic Limited, Nahid Kabir, Associate General Manager (Operations) of PRAN-RFL Group, Touhiduzzaman, Associate General Manager (Public Relations) of PRAN-RFL Group, and other senior officials of Durable Plastic Limited were present at the event.
