Assalamu Alaikum everyone. My name is Tanjina Bithi. I have been biking for the past 3 years. Sports bikes have always been my favorite. Today, I will share my experiences riding my first sports bike, the Lifan KPR 165R carb version. I have ridden this bike for 11,000 kilometers in one year so far. In this short time, I have had various good and bad experiences with the Lifan KPR 165R. I intend to ride it for another year. From my experience, I will try to present my Lifan KPR review, highlighting some good and bad aspects of the Lifan KPR 165R bike.

Why I bought the Lifan KPR 165R Carburetor Bike

My home is in Chittagong. My father used to be busy with business near home. Taking advantage of that, my brother and I would try to ride my father's bike. So, my love for bikes started at a young age. After my father passed away, my brother had his own bike, so I started riding my father's old bike. But my brother's sports bike always attracted me. So, I slowly started saving. I thought it might take a long time to buy my dream sports bike. But when I saw that the price of Lifan motorcycles was quite affordable, I tried riding a friend's Lifan KPR 165R motorcycle. I became a fan instantly after experiencing its incredibly good throttle response and acceleration. Finally, after seeing its outlook and excellent reviews, I decided that the Lifan KPR 165R Carburetor bike would be my dream sports bike.

Good Aspects of the Lifan KPR 165R Bike

First, I want to share with you what I liked about the Lifan KPR 165R bike. Below are the good aspects of the Lifan KPR 165R carb version bike:

Lifan KPR Review: Best Sports Bike in Terms of Price

In our country, buying a sports bike means a huge budget. But the Lifan KPR 165R carb motorcycle costs only 2,00,000 BDT in our country. For this price, the Lifan KPR 165R Carburetor has given me outstanding quality and great performance.

Lifan KPR Review: Sporty Outlook and Design

The Lifan KPR 165R bike has a strikingly aggressive outlook, just like all other Lifan motorcycles. The design of all their bikes catches everyone's eye, and the outlook is entirely that of a sports bike. From the 3 different color options of Lifan KPR 165R, I chose the black and red combination.

Lifan KPR 165R Review: Smooth Brakes and Control

With disk brakes on both the front and rear, the braking of my Lifan motorcycle is excellent. The 130-segment CST tire on the rear of the Lifan KPR 165R provides great comfort during riding. Even at 120 km/h and on highways, the control of the Lifan KPR 165R bike is so good that even a new biker like me gained a lot of confidence.

Lifan KPR Review: Fast and Powerful Engine

The Lifan KPR 165R carb bike features an NBF2 engine with liquid cooling, making its clutch and gears very smooth. With strong ready pickup, there's no problem in gaining speed. During the break-in period of the Lifan KPR 165R, i.e., the first 2000 km, the engine got quite hot, but this issue no longer existed afterward. So far, I've only replaced the oil filter in the bike's engine.

Lifan KPR Review: Seating Position and Comfortable Ride

Although the seating position of the Lifan KPR 165R motorbike is aggressive, the seat and body design are made in such a way that there is no body pain even after riding for a long time. For long tours on a bike, it's doubtful if there's a better bike than the Lifan KPR 165R at this price.

Lifan KPR Review: Improved Headlight

Almost all Lifan motorcycles are equipped with projection headlights. The headlight of my Lifan KPR 165R provides a clear view of the road ahead, except in fog. I felt quite comfortable riding the Lifan KPR 165R at night on the highway.

Problems I Faced with the Lifan KPR 165R Bike

The popular budget-friendly sports bike in the country, the Lifan KPR 165R, has more good aspects. Nevertheless, some things about my Lifan motorcycle have disappointed me a little. Below are the problems I noticed:

Lifan KPR Review: Average Mileage

Riding the Lifan KPR 165R bike, I've gotten a mileage of 34 km/liter in Chittagong city and 38 km/liter on the highway, right from the break-in period. Many say that for a 165cc engine, mileage doesn't get better than this. But my brother's bike is also 165cc, and it gets 40-50 km/liter. You could say my disappointment with the mileage is the sole reason behind my desire to change my Lifan KPR 165R bike after a year.

Lifan KPR Review: Monoshock Suspension is Quite Hard

The monoshock suspension provided on the rear of the Lifan KPR 165R carburetor bike felt quite hard to me. While it wasn't much of an issue for single riding, I didn't find much comfort when riding with a pillion. Later, I installed a Honda Hornet bike's monoshock on my Lifan motorcycle.

Lifan KPR Review: High Turning Ratio

The turning ratio of the Lifan KPR 165R bike is high. Because of this, I struggled quite a bit when taking turns while riding the bike on regular city streets and in traffic jams.

Lifan KPR Review: Hassle with Engine Oil Refill

The Lifan KPR 165R bike's engine requires 1200 ml of engine oil. Because of this, during a refill, you have to buy two 1000 ml bottles and take 200 ml from one to refill. Afterward, every time you go to refill the engine oil of the Lifan KPR 165R, you either have to measure 200 ml of oil from a bottle kept at home and take it to the garage, or buy an additional 1000 ml bottle again. This problem seemed very irritating to me.

Lifan KPR Review: Lack of Service Centers

Many have objections regarding Lifan motorcycles' after-sales service and parts. Being from Chittagong, I found a Lifan service center in the district headquarters here, although not all parts are available. In that case, those parts have to be brought from Dhaka. Apart from Dhaka and Chittagong, there are no other Lifan motorcycle after-sales service centers nationwide. This is a major problem for most bikers.

Conclusion

Overall, considering both good and bad aspects, the Lifan KPR 165R carb bike seems to be a very good bike within 2 lakh BDT. Despite being a Chinese company, this bike is capable of competing well with most sports bikes in the market. For those who love long tours on motorbikes and those who want a sporty outlook and good performance bike on a low budget, the Lifan KPR 165R Carburetor is a very good option. Thank you for patiently reading my review. Best wishes to everyone!
