Yamaha R15 V3 Indian Motorcycle 1300+ km Review – Md. Najmul
In our country, for aggressive-style bikers, sporty design, higher mileage, excellent speed, and smooth cornering are very important; and if all of these come together in a single motorcycle, that’s just perfect!
I am Md. Nazmul, a bike enthusiast and an aggressive rider. Today I will talk about my 20th bike in life, the most popular Yamaha R15 V3. For valid reasons, this R15 V3 motorcycle has already secured a special place in the hearts of pro bikers. R15 price in Bangladesh is extremely expensive. With dreamlike speed and a stunning stylish look, this motorcycle has also secured a special place in my heart within the past 2.5 months. However, it would be wrong to call it a 100% perfect bike. After riding more than 1300 kilometers, I’ll share my personal observations and a detailed review of the Indian R15.
Things I Liked About the R15 V3 Motorcycle
1. Outlook
The first great thing about the R15 V3 is its outlook. No matter from which side you look at it, the sporty design grabs everyone’s attention. I also received a lot of appreciation for it among friends wherever I took it.
2. Engine
The Yamaha R15 V3 BS6 version comes with an exceptionally powerful 150cc engine capable of producing 19 BHP. Such power in the 150cc segment is rarely found in other bikes.
3. Cooling System
To prevent overheating at higher RPMs, it comes with a liquid cooling system. The radiator fan and water jacket cool down the engine quickly, ensuring consistent performance.
4. VVA Technology
The Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology activates automatically at 7000 RPM. This ensures an accurate fuel-air mixture, keeping the bike powerful at all times.
5. Slipper Clutch
At high speed, sudden gear changes can cause jerks in the brakes or engine. The slipper clutch prevents this, gradually reducing speed and ensuring smoother gear shifts.
6. USD Suspension
The upside-down (USD) suspension provides excellent balance while cornering. As a premium bike feature, having it on the R15 V3 boosts riding confidence.
7. Smart Fuel Injection System
The EFI system uses smart sensors to adjust the fuel-air mixture according to speed requirements. This results in better performance and great mileage.
8. Digital Meter
The digital meter comes with 18 features, including:
- Option to set a welcome message
- Indicator when VVA activates at 7000 RPM
- Gear position indicator
- Instant fuel consumption
- Average speed and fuel consumption
- Shift light customization
9. Mileage
I achieved around 41 km/l in the city and 45–50 km/l on highways. This mileage is impressive for a bike with 19 BHP power.
10. Rear Tire Design
The 140 mm section wide tire provides excellent support during cornering, making sporty riding even more enjoyable.
Problems I Found in the R15 V3 Motorcycle
1. Price
At launch in Bangladesh, the price was 530,000 BDT, whereas in India it was only 180,000 INR. I bought the ABS-equipped Indian version at 485,000 BDT. The high price is undoubtedly a major drawback.
2. ABS
The early versions didn’t have ABS, which many complained about. I bought the ABS-equipped version once the price dropped a little.
3. Seat and Riding Position
The pillion seat is uncomfortable, and there’s no rear grab handle. The rider’s weight also puts extra pressure on the handlebar, causing pain in the hands and waist during long rides. This makes it inconvenient for long tours.
4. Exposed Rear Wheel
Without a mudguard, the bike gets dirty with mud and water during the rainy season. As a result, it needs cleaning after every ride.
5. Horn
Although it’s a premium bike, the horn doesn’t sound good. Many people mistake it for a small vehicle’s horn.
Conclusion
The advantages of the R15 V3 outweigh its problems. Its premium features, style, and performance make it one of my favorite bikes.
