Driving License – Fees for Different Purposes

A driving license is a legal document that permits an individual to drive a motor vehicle/motorcycle. Essentially, a license is a permit from a specific authority to own or use something. More specifically, in the context of our country, a driving license refers to a document issued by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) that grants a specific person permission to drive a particular motor vehicle. According to Bangladesh's Motor Vehicles Ordinance 1983, a driving license is a permit to drive a vehicle anywhere (except private and restricted areas). Driving any motor vehicle requires driver training and experience; this license is granted to individuals who are properly trained to drive motor vehicles. Skilled individuals are needed to ensure the safety of pedestrians, other vehicles, and property on the road. This license is issued to identify such skilled individuals. To obtain this license, you must undergo training at a specific institution and then apply for the license at the BRTA (Bangladesh Road Transport Authority). This blog discusses driving license fees in detail. It also covers how to renew a driving license and how to obtain a driving license online.
How to get a Driving License?
You will apply online (bsp.brta.gov.bd) for a learner's license. The necessary documents to attach are listed below. You should collect these documents. If the application form is filled correctly, your learner's license will be issued from BRTA's online driving license system, and you can print it immediately. After a specific period (usually 30 to 90 days), you will be called for a practical test. The exam date will be informed via SMS to your mobile phone in advance. You will need to participate in written, oral, and field tests at the designated location. Bring all necessary documents with you at this time. If you pass the practical test, you will need to fill out another specific form. Then, you will apply for a smart card license by providing the necessary documents and another stipulated fee. You must apply at the specific circle office according to your mentioned address. After a few more days (usually 7 to 30 days), you will be called via SMS to provide your biometrics. Your digital photo, signature, and fingerprints will then be taken, and a smart card will be issued. Once the smart card printing is complete, you will be notified via mobile message.
