Whether for work or hobby, bikes are an essential mode of transport for almost all activities in Bangladesh. This two-wheeler makes reaching destinations easier. While once imported from Japan, motorcycles are now also imported from countries like Thailand, India, China, and Indonesia. The growing demand for bikes is the main reason for this. The demand for bikes is increasing day by day for a large segment of the country's population, especially young riders, for both necessity and hobby. Additionally, there's a craze for group riding. On the roads, a group of bikers is often seen riding together. Sometimes for special needs, and sometimes simply for pleasure trips. These online and offline groups formed among themselves are of various types: sports bike groups, long ride groups, or district/sub-district based groups. This group riding culture is gradually becoming quite popular in Bangladesh. Let's learn today about the benefits of group riding.

Benefits of Group Riding

  1. When talking about the benefits of group riding, safety comes first. These groups usually have a team leader who leads the motorcycle group from the front. The team leader implements all ride plans, such as where the ride will end, which route to take, and providing detailed route information to others. Additionally, there is an instructor at the back who ensures the group's safety from behind. So, if any member ever faces an accident or encounters robbers or snatchers on the road, they can confront them together. Moreover, the smaller the group, the easier it is for leaders to ensure everyone's proper safety. Therefore, choosing a small group is suitable for long rides.
  2. Another advantage of riding in a small group is the ease of planning and moving forward through any winding roads, crowded places, or narrow trails. This is a challenging aspect for larger groups.
  3. While not a problem in cities, arranging accommodation and food for a large bike group in villages or sparsely populated areas can be quite difficult. In this regard, it is much easier to arrange food, accommodation, and recreation for a small motorcycle riding team.
  4. For long journeys like cross-country rides or transcontinental rides, the smaller the bike riding group, the better. This is because it is easier to lead and control a team on a smaller scale. Additionally, if the group is small, it's possible to shift from one place to another in a very short time during the ride.
  5. When many riders ride together in group riding, there is a higher tendency to overtake. If the group is small, there is better acquaintance and understanding among members. For this reason, the overtaking mentality is often lower, and bikes are driven in an organized manner. This makes it easier for other vehicles to move on the road and also ensures the safety of the riders.
  6. The smaller the group, the more opportunities riders have for discussion among themselves. As a result, various things can be learned and known about group riding rules, new routes, and related matters. In other words, there are additional opportunities for experimenting with new routes.
  7. In small groups, if there is an experienced rider, others can easily follow the route according to their instructions. If any member of the group has a problem, others can easily maintain communication and take action accordingly.

Nowadays, thanks to social media, we see quite a few bike groups such as Dui Chakkha, Motorcycle Valley, BD Biker Club, Bike BD, etc. In these groups, bikers share their bike-related problems through mutual camaraderie and also receive solutions. Additionally, there are various district or local offline groups that organize group riding for pleasure trips throughout the year. Anyone who wishes to stay involved in regular biking activities can follow these groups.
