How to get a driving license from BRTA (Bangladesh Road Transport Authority)? Here’s the required information and costs.

According to section 3 of the Bangladesh Motor Vehicles Ordinance 1983, no one is allowed to drive on the road without a valid driving license. Minimum Eligibility for a Driving License in Bangladesh
- Minimum educational qualification: Class 8 pass. For online applications, minimum SSC.
- First, a learner’s driving license is required.
- Minimum age: 18 years for non-professional drivers and 20 years for professional drivers.
Types of Professional Driving Licenses
1. Light Motor Vehicle (under 2500 kg)
Required for motorcycles, CNGs, private cars, microbuses, etc. Minimum age: 20 years.
2. Medium Motor Vehicle (2500–6000 kg)
Minimum age: 23 years with at least 3 years’ experience driving light vehicles.
3. Heavy Motor Vehicle (over 6000 kg)
Minimum age: 26 years with at least 3 years’ experience driving medium vehicles.

- Medical certificate signed by a registered doctor (≤600KB)

Process for Smart Card Driving License
The same documents are required, but the learner’s license number must be provided. After passing written, oral, and practical tests, complete biometric verification and collect the smart card on the scheduled date.
How to Apply for an International Driving License
- A valid smart card driving license is required.
- Fill out the application form on the BRTA website.
