Motorcycle Registration Process

When buying a bike, most people wonder – how do I register my bike? Is it too time-consuming to register by myself? How much will the registration cost? Can I handle the registration myself after purchasing from the showroom?
Yes, of course – you can register your bike yourself. Here we have explained in detail how much it costs for different CC bikes, what documents are required, how to deposit the money in the bank, and the complete process. We’ve tried to give you a clear understanding of the registration procedure.
This guide explains step by step what you need to do at the BRTA office. Based on that, you can apply for your bike’s registration. The required documents are listed below. Here is a detailed breakdown of the step-by-step motorcycle registration process:
- Collect the required documents and apply for vehicle registration,
- Deposit the required fees at the bank,
- Submit the application,
- Record the digital blue book and number plate,
- Receive the blue book and RFID number plate,
- Finally, present the motorcycle for physical inspection.
If you want to do the registration yourself, first identify the nearest BRTA office. Go there with the prescribed form and all necessary documents (mentioned below) to apply for your bike/vehicle registration.
Vehicle Registration (Summary)
The applicant must go to the relevant BRTA office with the prescribed form and necessary documents to apply for registration. After verification, if everything is correct, the office will give you an assessment slip. Once you pay the fees at the designated bank, you must present your vehicle for inspection at the BRTA office.
After the inspection, your ownership and vehicle details will be entered into the BRTA information system. Then, the Assistant Director (Engineer) will approve the registration, and you will receive a document/acknowledgement receipt, fitness certificate, and tax token, signed and provided by the BRTA officers, along with your registration number.
After the Digital Registration Certificate (DRC) is prepared, the customer must appear at the office to provide biometrics (digital photo, signature, and fingerprints) after receiving an SMS notification. You will also be informed via SMS when the DRC is ready for collection.
